Mission Statement
The
mission of The Greatest Race organization is to:
-
Promote
community involvement as volunteers and participants in three major events
~ an evening gala, luncheon,
and a kayak/canoe race in the upper basin of the Kennebunk River.
-
Encourage
financial and other forms of contributions from public and private sources
to support:
research and the development of treatments and cures for illnesses
affecting Maine children.
comprehensive psychosocial support to child patients, their families and
caregivers by providing thorough, accurate and readily accessible
information about treatments.
development of clinical operations, centers, best practices and other
patient support mechanisms (not including direct medical care) to create
better access to quality healthcare for Maine children.
charity care for those families facing financial challenges in providing
healthcare for Maine children.

Expand
public awareness and promote early and accurate diagnosis by the medical
community, increase understanding
of the challenges facing child patients.

Contribute
all fundraising proceeds exclusively to The Barbara Bush Children’s
Hospital at the Maine Medical Center to
help give all children in Maine access to quality medical care close to
home.
